ZEISS Nomarski D.I.C. 160mm terza e ultima versione!

Zeiss Nomarsi D.I.C. 160mm last version

Nota: Esistono due condesatori marcati T/S, il primo è mostrato in foto (465273 inko) ed ha una lente superiore di 0,63 an ; il secondo (465285 inko) invece presenta una lente superiore da 1,40 an;

Zeiss Neofluar 25x e Zeiss planapo 25x:

Obbiettivo cinese 10x, Zeiss neofluar 10x, e Lomo apo 10x, Planapo 10x Zeiss o altro:

*****

In the past Zeiss manifactured three configurations for the Differential Interference Contrast of (D.I.C.), in the last one (third edition) there were single beam combining prisms for each objective to fit in a collar betwen objective and nosepiece.

The condenser (pic above) has only two prisms inside that combined with the dic sliders they will give an optimal DIC in according to the objective used.. this condenser has a T/S marked on upper surface whit white paint and is really this mark to point out its most recent production.

Note that there are two different condenser marked T/S :

465273 inko with 0,63 top lens and 465285 inko with 1,40 top lens.

the two condenser are not identical and i think that dic prisms and top lenses are not intercangeable for good dic, at least for some objective!

other objectives instead, like leitz NPL FLuotar 50x 1.0, give some impressive results in DIC

Personally I found that is possible to combine the prisms of the condenser with sliders to have resulted excellent with objective with different characteristics.

For instance:

Zeiss Neofluar 25x and Zeiss plan apo 25x:

Prism condenser marked “I” and dic slider 100x

(The only one DIC slider manifactured by Zeiss for this magnification was designed for Zeiss “Plan Neofluar 25x multiimersion objective”)

Chinese objective 10x, Neofluar 10x, Lomo apo 10x, Zeiss or other Plan apo10x etc.:

Prism condenser marked “I” and dic slider 40x

(No original slider for this magnification)

Objective 6,3x (mine is a Zeiss Jena apochromat):

I get a good DIC with Prism condenser marked “I” and dic slider 40x fitted upside-down (fig.2).

(for this magnification “plan 6,3x” slider available but i’have not one ).

Tra gli accessori per il Contrasto differenziale erano disponibili alcune lamine compensatrici con le quali era possibile ottenere uno sfondo colorato invece del solito grigio;

si prenda un vetrino portaoggetto e vi si incollino sopra due striscette di nastro isolante trasparente facendo attenzione a non lasciare delle bolle all’interno;

Tali vetrini posti sull’ illuminatore daranno dei colori dello sfondo molto diversi e gradevoli;

*****

For Differential Contrast were available some lambda plate compensator with which was possible to get a colored background instead of the usual grey;

Now they are very rare to find and expensive, for which it is worthwhile to find more economic solutions…:

In a glass, you glue above two strips of transparent ribbon;

on a second slide you glue four strips of ribbon; on a third slide eight strips etc. you can try also to put between the various layers a Cellophane strip.

place these slides on illuminator; they will give some colors of background very different and pleasant;

also with the simple polarized light they work very well (you see under).

Note

Note

So che anche altri obbiettivi funzionano egregiamente, ad es il Leitz NPL FLuotar 50x/oil;

This test is based on last version of Zeiss Nomarsi DIC 160mm!

I know that there are other objectives that give a good DIC images, like Leitz NPL FLuotar 50x/1.0 oil.

Please see here for very good pics taken whit it.
